Project Principles
All our projects follow the same principles:
Additionality
All our projects follow the methodology of the CDM and must clearly demonstrate that the emission reductions would not have taken place without the additional financial incentive provided by credits or vice versa the penalties imposed due to exceeding caps.
Emissions reductions achieved by Cleaner Climate's projects would not have occurred under "business as usual" scenarios.
Retirement
Cleaner Climate holds a VCS registry account with the Markit Environmental Registry (formally known as TZ1).
We are currently transiting our portfolio of VCS accredited emission reductions into our VCS account for greater transparency.
Combined with Cleaner Climate’s own internal registry, clients can have peace of mind that each purchased offset reduction as been formally registered and retired.
Verification & Sustainability
Cleaner Climate's projects undergo independent third party verification regularly thus ensuring that our projects’ intended reductions actually take place. Our projects are verified by companies endorsed by the UN called Designated Operational Entities or DOEs.
Cleaner Climate's projects may also adhere to the guidelines of the Gold Standard or the Voluntary Carbon Standard . These certifications mean that our projects must undergo stringent testing involving issues such as additionality, host country eligibility and project type.
There are also strict conditional elements such as social sustainability and economic and technological impacts to ensure the projects deliver not only environmental outcomes but also sustainable development benefits.
